You will need:
Cinnamon rolls:
- 1 1/2 cup hot water
- 1 packet yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 cup yellow cake mix
- 4-5 cups flour
Filling:
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup yellow cake mix
Icing:
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup yellow cake mix
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it’s 1/2 thick. Drizzle melted butter over the dough then sprinkle with cinnamon, sugar and cake mix. Roll tightly into a long roll then slice 2 inch pieces from the roll. Place rolls on greased & floured baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 375 °.
Beat together powderred sugar, cake mix, butter, milk and vanilla. Drizzle over cinnamon rolls & sprinkle with rainbow sprinkles. Serve warm.
These are so delicious! This is a great basic cinnamon roll recipe by itself if birthday cake isn’t your thing (just don’t add the cake mix where it is called for). I wrapped the extra’s in tinfoil and then froze, so we can take them out and individually warm them up for breakfast. Yum!
