3rd trimester // Pink Blush Maternity Giveaway

maternity 28 weeks

Somedays I can’t believe that I am already in the third trimester of my pregnancy. Other days, when I can’t hardly make it up the stairs or when the baby kicks my bladder so hard I think I may pee my pants, or when my contractions are so bad I think I am going into labor, it’s a little easier to believe. My small maternity clothes just aren’t cutting it anymore. I feel like I have the weirdest shaped belly with this pregnancy. My first three pregnancies it looked like a perfectly round basketball balancing on my belly, or at least I thought so at the time? It probably didn’t look as cute as I remember. I never retained any water and honestly didn’t gain much weight other than in my belly. This time around everything is swollen, my hips are curvier than ever, and all my maternity clothes are just a little bit tighter. No complaints here though! I enjoying indulging in all my cravings. Oh do I ever. My favorite craving has been pie. Thankfully we have a place in town that makes fresh, homemade pies daily and you can buy them by the slice. Some of my other yummy cravings have been ice cream& pickles (horribly cliche), Raisinets, spicy spicy salsa, Mexican food, cheesy broccoli soup, donuts, apples and oranges. Really all over the place.

Also I have been resting as much as possible because my body and midwife are telling me to, and I have already learned the hard way what happens when I don’t listen to my body. In my final phase of pregnancy I am going for comfort all around. If I have to wear pants I want sweat pants, and if I want to look a little bit nicer I am all about the maxi dress. Maxi’s have to be my favorite maternity clothing to wear. I have always loved wearing them, but the comfort they provide is essential for my growing body right now. This one I’m wearing is from Pink Blush Maternity and doubles as a nursing maxi for after the baby is born, genius! Seriously the comfiest dress ever and I feel beautiful in it’s simplicity. You can dress it up with some jewels or throw on a scarf and a sweater.maternity 28 weeks (1)

Preggers compression tights: Look #2 & Giveaway

boys nye (9)How fun are these tights?! I love the pop of color it adds to my outfits. Between the leggings from yesterday and the tights, I actually prefer the tights. Although they are harder to get on, they seem to offer more support than the leggings do. I am in love with all the fun colors they come in, I chose the Shop Teal U Drop but I can’t wait to order more colors. I have my eye on the Mulberry and Your Golden. What’s great about both the leggings and the tights, is the large belly panel on the top. It offers a little extra support for your baby belly and just smooths everything out for you. I wear a lot of neutral colors these days so I am kind of loving bright tights at the moment to spice up my wardrobe.

Preggers compression leggings: Look #1

boys nye (5)

This is my first pregnancy that I have retained any water in my legs and ankles. Aren’t you so psyched you know that now!? No but seriously, this totally blows. My legs are in pain every day no matter how long I am on my feet and the swelling is real glorious looking. I can’t even climb the stairs without my legs feeling extremely sore and achy. My midwife said I should try and cut back on my salt intake and I tried not to laugh in her face. Salt is my weakness. I need it. She was right though, every time I eat something salty I pay for it, so I have been trying really hard to cut back a bit. A bit…:)

The only thing that has helped me are compression tights. I don’t know about you but when I hear the word “compression” in front of tights all I can think of are little old ladies with varicose veins that need special hose. I was so wrong. These things have saved my poor legs! I wear them every single day. They provide serious relief the second I put them on. Compression tights and leggings aren’t just for us preggos either. The compression helps your circulation and is very beneficial to anyone. They aren’t the easiest things to get on because they start out tighter around the ankles, but hopefully you have a helping hand to assist you.

Preggers by Therafirm has a stylish selection and affordable prices on not only maternity, but women’s compression leggings and tights. I love all their fun colors! I totally plan on wearing them after the baby as well, because they really suck it all in juuusst right. Just one heads up: with these tights and leggings you will need a tunic or outfit that covers your bum as the area around the bum seems to be a bit transparent. Be sure to check back here tomorrow for my 2nd Preggers outfit look, and a giveaway so you can win some tights for yourself! Remember you need not be pregnant! In the meantime check out the Preggers shop (if you are pregnant) or the GoGo shop (if you are not expecting), to see what you could win!

20 weeks

maternity (4)

We are halfway there and we couldn’t be happier about it! My morning/daytime/nighttime sickness is only coming around a couple days a week instead of every day, I am having slightly more energy, and my house seems quite a bit cleaner than it was the last 3 months. Although this has been my hardest pregnancy so far, and even my normal yoga routine wears me out to pieces, I am too excited about carrying another child to dwell on it. Plus I finally feel ok enough to have a cup of decaf once in a while and that in itself is a miracle! These 20 weeks have been full of migraines, stomach aches, restlessness, and have left me completely drained. The old me would be so depressed and mopey about it all, but in the last few years God decided to change my heart and all the negativity I used to store in there. I use to dwell on everything negative in my life and you know what? It was exhausting. After a lot of prayer and positive changes, I am proud of the new me and all God has done to help me see who I am supposed to be.

maternityrealThe really fun part of this pregnancy has been the role the boys are playing in it. They are so excited to have a new baby sibling. They ask me daily how the baby is doing and get excited when we pull out the doppler to listen to the heartbeat. I am so very thankful of the way they handled me being so sick. I stressed so much about how little attention I was able to give to them while I spent so much time taking care of myself. It was like they just knew they had to let me rest and occupy themselves for a while and they totally  understood what was happening. It certainly made things a lot easier for all of us so thanks you little love bugs!

I must say when we started telling people I was pregnant with our 4th child I couldn’t believe how many people would say things like, “Oh! Were you trying to get pregnant?”, or “Wow you really want more kids?”, “Congratulations! This is it for you guys then right?” Gosh I just love getting these comments! They don’t really surprise me or upset me, but they often just make me sad. Sad that the world we live in today only thinks having a few kids is socially acceptable and that there is some magic number that you need to stop at. Well let me politely clear up all these questions for everyone right now. We love having kids. We love raising kids. I am blessed to be able to stay at home with the kids and take great pride in doing so. We are open to life and feel grateful that God has blessed us with a “big” family and we only hope it continues to grow. I was an only child for most of my life and I always knew I wanted a big family. We aren’t trying to keep up with the Duggars or anything and we don’t see having 4 children as having “a lot of kids”. Also we are Catholic….if you’re into stereotypes. :) There! Are we done with that now? Fantastic.maternityreal (2)

In the last week or so I developed a strong sense that we are having another little boy. I’m not quite sure why but I just am so certain that it is. Maybe because boys are all I know and I really do adore having all boys. Also having a girl kinda sorta scares me a bit. Either way we will be thrilled! We finally agreed on a name for a girl and a boy, which was actually really difficult this time around. I really wanted to be prepared this time because when I had Liam, we didn’t have a name for him right away. maternityreal (3)

I am prayerful and confident that I can make it through another natural birth this time around. I was blessed to meet a group of fabulous women, including a handful of doulas and midwives, a few months back that get together every month and discuss pregnancy and birthing options. Even though it is my fourth time being pregnant I have learned so much that I can’t believe I didn’t already know. This sounds really crazy but I am actually really excited to go into labor so I can use all my new techniques they have taught me to deal with labor pains.

When we told my mother-in-law we were pregnant this time around she said something that I had never heard before and I will always cherish. She said, “That is so exciting that God is trusting you with another soul!” I couldn’t stop thinking about how right she was, and what a blessed way to look at having another child.

With the weather warming up I am so excited to be packing away my sweaters and pulling out my spring/summer clothes. I have had summer fashion on the brain as we are getting ready to go on vacation in just a few weeks. I adore this skirt SO much and I really am excited about how versatile it is. I am a sucker for stripes and anything comfy, so this skirt and I, we really mesh. Is anyone else also loving that pastel colors are still lingering around, and on trend for this summer again? You can never have too much mint in your life, can we agree on that?
What are your favorite spring or summer trends this year?
Happy Monday!
