We aren’t big NYE goer-outers. But last year our good friends tied the knot on NYE which was such a blast.

So all of us couples vowed to make plans next NYE because we had such a great time. This year we made plans to go to dinner and then all go to a NYE party together. After not 1 but 2 of our babysitters, cancelled on us, we figured God wanted us to stay home. Which we were MORE than fine with for a few reasons.

  1. We have spent a handful of nights out with friends in the last month. So we were kind of excited to stay home.
  2. We had board games we hadn’t played yet that we got for Christmas.
  3. We were giddy about throwing the kids a little NYE party.

So first things first. I baked a three layer white cake with strawberry creme filling.

Then I made a nice dinner and we spend the night sipping champagne (& Welch’s sparkling soda) and playing every board game in the closet. We sat around the table discussing our favorite things we did this year and things we were excited for in 2013. Also I bought noise makers. They were really cool/not annoying for about 10 minutes. But really, we had a great family night. And after the kids went to sleep, Ralph and I opened a bottle of wine and watched movies.

Happy 2013 from the Holzmanns.
