Ants on a log, with a twist

Spice up the classic ‘ants on a log’ by using other fun foods besides rasins! Who would have thought right?! We use cereal, dried cranberries, granola, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, yogurt covered raisins and sprinkles to name a few. Let your kids help you make these and pick out the toppings, even if it destroys your kitchen and then leaves peanut butter fingerprints all over your walls. :)

How to get rid of fruit flies naturally

You will need:

  • apple cider vinegar
  • dish soap
  • plastic wrap

All you do is mix together a few pumps of dish soap and some apple cider vinegar in a glass and cover the top with plastic wrap. Poke a few holes in it and your done!

Why this works: The fruit flies are attracted to the smell of apple cider vinegar and will fly into the holes to get closer to the smell. The dish soap helps them stick into the mixture and sadly, die. Who am I kidding nobody is sad about getting rid of pesky fruit flies! Sorry, not sorry little guys!

Fruit & yogurt pops

You will need:

  • yougurt
  • any kind of fruit
  • fruit juice (optional)

Combine about 2 cups of yogurt with fruit of your choice (we did bananas & blueberries) and purée. You may add fruit juice for more flavor.Pour into ice cube trays. Place tray in the freezer for about 30 minutes, then add cut up straws or popsicle sticks. Take out when completely frozen and transfer to a ziplock bag for easier storage.

Kids love these! They are the perfect size for their little hands which makes it so much easier for them to eat (& makes less messes for mom to clean up)! Plus the best news about these is that there is NO high fructose corn syrup or other artificial ingredients.
