Martha Stewart’s recipe for asparagus gruyere tart…modified! I couldn’t find gruyere cheese anywhere in our small town so I used asiago instead. I also added a thin layer of cream cheese which made all the difference! Here is the original recipe if you are interested!
For this recipe, you will need:
- aprox. 4 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/2 cups your favorite shredded cheese
- asparagus, trimmed
- 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, rolled out
- sea salt
- olive oil
- 1 tablespoon dried basil
Remove from oven and drizzle a tiny amount of olive oil over the asparagus and top with basil & sea salt. Broil on low for an additional 10 minutes or until bubbling on top.
Serves well with a glass bottle of Merlot! Perfect appetizer to impress your guests! Mmmmm I will totally be making this a lot more in the future. Anyone know of a good puff pastry recipe from scratch? I would love to try that.
